Business Analyst
How does the role impact the organization?
As a key member of the Raymond James Ltd. Project Management Office, you will collaborate with business and IT stakeholders, as well as third parties, to define and document business requirements for project implementations. Your work will directly influence the development of innovative solutions for our advisors and customers and enhance the administration and financial performance of the organization.
What will your role be responsible for?
- Collaborate with Business, Product Owners, and technical leads to understand the business case and primary objectives of new projects.
- Accurately capture business and technology requirements.
- Translate user requirements into Business Analysis artifacts such as BRDs, use cases, user stories, process flow diagrams, integration diagrams, mapping documents, screen mock-ups, UI designs, and user manuals. Familiarity with system analysis artifacts is an asset.
- Perform gap analysis and translate findings into business process and/or system requirements. Experience with systems requirements is beneficial.
- Evaluate potential software solutions to ensure they meet business requirements and enterprise infrastructure and security standards. Knowledge of systems requirements is advantageous
- Identify and advocate for process improvements to enhance business efficiency and effectiveness.
- Support the QA team with test strategy, plan documentation, test scripts, and defect management, and participate in acceptance tests if required.
- Perform impact analyses of changes and participate in change management.
- Build trust and share knowledge to foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Communicate with and influence project stakeholders
- Explain complex technical ideas in a simple, understandable format.
- Work effectively in virtual teams, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
- Manage functional and technical requests, bug investigations, and discretionary work efforts using tools like JIRA, Confluence, and ServiceNow.
- Work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a broader technology group.

- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience
- Proficiency in business analytics, problem solving, and process improvement.
- Experience in eliciting, documenting, prioritizing, and defining business needs and requirements in complex scenarios. Experience with system needs is a plus.
- Financial services industry experience or knowledge of fundamental investment concepts, practices, and procedures in the securities industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn new applications.
- Ability to work within deadlines in a high-volume, demanding environment while maintaining a high level of service and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with a broad range of audiences.
- Experience with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and familiarity with BABOK methodology and Business Analysis Best Practices.
- Superior communication skills, both oral and written.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to self-manage, govern time, and multitask effectively.
- Technical or university degree in technology or business.
- Minimum of five years as a successful business analyst supporting multiple systems.
- Experience with agile and waterfall projects.
- A proactive and dynamic attitude with initiative and eagerness to learn.
Additional Skills:
- Experience with systems analysis, including understanding technical specifications, system design and integration points, is a plus
- Ability to bridge the gap between business requirements and technical solutions ensuring both are aligned and effectively communicated, is beneficial.
